When you are a young buck of 17, just returned from overseas and need money, you will do just about anything. So, when a family friend offered Brad Young cash for help doing jobs in his small grouting business he jumped at the chance. Little did Brad know this opportunity would lead him on a great journey of entrepreneurship to create what is now one of the leading shower repair and grout replacement specialists - The Grout Guy.
Brad likes to call himself an accidental entrepreneur because he didn't really have a grand plan for the business initially. He was young and wanted to make some cash, and that's what he did for over a decade. During that time, he worked with his team in the field, learning everything he could about grout and tile cleaning.
Brad also learned the more nuanced aspects of running a business, like calculating margin, marketing, and building a new business pipeline. He also learned valuable lessons about just being a good operator and human.
He was taught to always be respectful to customers no matter what, never be late and to always leave a bathroom cleaner than he found it. All of these lessons and years of experience combined to form an ethos that has sustained The Grout Guy for more than a decade and built it to a 100+ strong team across the country.
Once Brad got serious about his vision for the company and moved behind the desk to take on full-time management of the business, it started to grow and expand exponentially. Brad's tenacity and "never give up" attitude are the foundation of The Grout Guy’s success. He may have started out as an ‘accidental entrepreneur’, but he's now the proud driver of a multi-million-dollar business that operates in four states: VIC, WA, QLD, and NSW. And it continues to grow!
